A circa 1900, Barnes of America shaft-drive lady's bicycle, comprising an interesting swan neck style loop-frame, 27-inch wooden rims, back-pedalling brake, rat trap pedals and good tyres. An interesting and unique quality machine.

A French-manufactured road-racing gentleman's bicycle featuring a 21-inch enamelled frame, original nickel-plating to the interestingly designed fork shoulders (see image), handle-bars and calliper brakes, (Sublime & Rutter), 26-inch wooden rims, interesting dual rear chain adjuster and fork ends, quick release wing nuts and an 'Ideale' saddle.

A 'Strutt' folding bicycle by Orbit Cycles of Sheffield. An interesting 1997 built bicycle created from Columbus tubing finished in red. The machine features 24-inch wheels, hub brake in the rear wheel, Bowden cable operated front calliper brake and seven-speed Sturmey Archer hub gears operated by hand grip. Costing £900 when new.

A 1987 Raleigh 'Gold Plated' Century Commemorative gentleman's bicycle. A limited edition bicycle of which only 100 were manufactured for the UK market and 50 for the Irish market. These prestige machines were only offered to Raleigh agents, this example numbered 109. The bicycle is possibly unique as it has not been removed from its delivery box. It has a 22 1/2-inch frame, builders' slips, and authentication certificate.

A 1947(?) Claud Butler gentleman's bicycle having a 23-inch lugless frame numbered 731231 retaining its original blue enamel and transfers. It possesses a four-speed Simplex gear system with an 1/8th chain, Brooks B17 saddle, GB brakes, Allez pedals, Bayliss Wiley large flange hubs, Reynolds handlebar stem, Durax crank, rebuilt 26-inch wheels, Bluemels cream mudguards and 18-inch handlebars.

A circa 1939 Hercules gentleman's bicycle, of the type almost certainly manufactured for the American market. It possess a 22-inch double-top-tube frame, 28 x 1 1/2-inch rims with stainless spokes, Wrights leather saddle with double-coil springs, sweeping handlebars, bell and excellent bright work and back pedalling brake. This machine was sold by Gibbons of Spalding in 1941.

A circa 1957 Carlton 'Flyer' gentleman's track bicycle with 'road' front forks now fitted, 23-inch frame numbered F4294, fully chromium-plated frame retaining its original enamel, transfers and headstock badge. Fitted with tubular tyres, it possesses a 50-tooth chain wheel, Brooks 'Professional' saddle, Leotard pedals, a Campagnolo 'Record' hub with an A.V.A. rim, the front being a Normandy hub with a Mavic rim. A very light machine that performs rather well.

Rudge Whitworth gentleman's bicycle having a 23-inch frame with a number of 778552. This delightful machine also features correct high-point front and rear mudguards, nickel-plated fork crown, black celluloid covered handlebars with nickel-plated brake fittings, revolver bell, Brooks B66 saddle, Sturmey Archer three-speed hub gear and fitted rear rack.

A Columbia diamond-framed military bicycle. The 22-inch frame possesses the remnants of dark green paint, Columbia chain wheel and one-piece crank, high positioned but down-turned handlebars, 26-inch Endrick rims with front and rear calliper brakes, correct style mudguards, rat trap pedals. The bicycle comes with a 1942 dated parts list. (2)

A Hobbs of Barbican gentleman's bicycle having a 23-inch frame numbered ???795, 26-inch Weinmann aluminium rims and calliper brakes, dynamo front hub, front lamp fixing to the off-side front forks, rear rack, Brooks 'competition' saddle and bell. An interesting machine showing its original transfers and light-green finish, now in poor condition.

Garratt of Battersea semi-sports gentleman's bicycle having a 24-inch frame, Weinmann 27-inch 'Club Tourist' rims and calliper brakes, Light-blue paintwork with transfers (non-original?) and an Osgear type three-speed gear (although the jockey wheel is marked Simplex). Dropped handlebars and leather lightweight saddle.

Co., of America gentleman's bicycle having a 24-inch frame, 28 x 1 1/2 -inch wheels rebuilt, inch-pitch chain set with an interesting designed chain wheel, a rare Morrow Coaster with back peddling brake hub, very decorative rococo style lugs, blind fork ends, up-swept handlebars with original cork and nickel-plated grips, large bell, saddle bag and confederate hat.

A rare c1898 Bamboo Cycle Co., gentleman's bicycle with a 20-inch frame with an indistinct number. It features its correct chain wheel and cranks, lug-work, swept handlebars, lamp bracket and mounting step. Wooden wheels are fitted together with a leather saddle, tool bag and coasting feet rests. The front forks made to style but a later addition.

A Burdin 'Derny' pacing motorcycle. Having been in dry storage for a while, this interesting machine is believed to be a complete motorcycle and comes with a further two units which could be used as donor machines. They were believed to have been used in the Bordeaux-Paris classic road race in the 1960s, a race that covered 560 km. Latterly, these motorcycles were used at the Reading Velodrome. Motor cycles with a capacity of under 50cc were free of duty on French roads, however, the French authorities appeared to turn a blind eye to the fact that these machines had Zurcher two-stroke engines of 98cc. A Hercules double-gentleman's tandem bicycle with a 21-inch frame with a number of ED7679. Recently having undergone a full refurbishment, the bicycle features a black enamel frame, matching handlebars, rat trap pedals and saddles. The rebuilt wheels have internal expanding brakes on both wheels, Sturmey Archer three-speed hub, quadrant control, new mudguards and fitted pump.

A Sunbeam double-gentleman's tandem bicycle having a 21 1/2-inch frame numbered U.550.0.25817. a rare machine which is currently fitted with Derailleur five-speed gearing although a more correct Blumfield combination internal expanding brake and three-speed gear hub comes with its purchase. An internal expanding hub brake is fitted to the 26-inch front wheel. The machine has matching handlebars and pedals, original black enamel and Sunbeam transfers.

A circa 1946 French 'Porteur' gentleman's bicycle manufactured by J. Perrotin (of Tour de France fame). The bicycle possesses a 23-inch frame, wheels and a 'Welcome' saddle. Lacking a pedal crank. See N&V Feb/March 2008 for a description and story about this machine.

A Dawes 'Sterling' gentleman's bicycle having a 23-inch blue enamelled frame with numbered 9195. In generally good condition, it possesses 28-inch Endrick rims, 12-speed gearing, Reynolds tubing, Dawes saddle and aluminium mudguards. A good touring machine.

A Crosby of Evesham model 'Ace' lady's touring bicycle. The blue enamelled 22-inch frame is numbered 75928. It possesses 27-inch wheels GB braking, rat trap pedals, Cyclo 4-speed gearing, Brooks saddle and good chromium-plating, Bluemels mudguards. A good touring machine in good original condition.

A 1930s B.S.A. lady's touring bicycle having a 22 1/2-inch loop-frame numbered 77238, 26-inch Westwood rims, centre-pull brakes back and front, rear rack, decorative saddle and front basket.

A Royal Enfield diamond-frame gentleman's touring bicycle, having a 26-inch frame, 28-inch wheels, centre-pull front brake and a back-pedalling contracting band brake at the rear. It comes with its original loop handlebars, mudguards and a brass pump. No saddle fitted. A good restoration project.
