A rare circa 1910 Powell & Hanmer manufactured 'Duoplex' combination acetylene gas lamp, of the type that fits to the off-side front forks of a bicycle. In this position it shines a bright white light forward and a red light to the rear. It is also fitted with an automatic lighter.

A pair of 'Old Sol' acetylene gas lamps, both with their original nickel-plating, front glasses, burners and mounting brackets. (2)

Two Badger Brass 'Solar' acetylene gas lamps: an 1898 model in sound order and an 1899 model, also in good order, each with good front glasses, multi-faceted side glasses and original plating in cleanable condition. (2)

Three American-manufactured acetylene gas lamps: a circa 1910 'Solar', a 1900-1906 period 'Searchlight' sandwich format lamp and a pre-1904 'Twentieth Century' lamp. Each with cleanable nickel-plating and fittings. (3)

Two rare 'Bundy' sandwich format acetylene gas lamps: one example dating from circa 1899, the other similar but with specific design changes dating from circa 1900. These sandwich format lamps only had a short manufactured life, and are therefore rare in the market place. Good original nickel-plating, front glasses, burners and mounting brackets. (2)

Three lamps: an Edward Miller 'A1' kerosene lamp, a 'Columbia' kerosene lamp and an Edward Miller 'Majestic' sandwich format acetylene gas lamp, with original nickel-plating, correct glasses and brackets. The last-named with a dented rim. (3) See image front cover

A Salsbury & Son, 'The Invincible' oil-powered Safety Bicycle lamp. Dating circa 1887, this lamp is highly original and complete with its original black enamel finish, sprung rear bracket, name plate, oil reservoir and red patented side glasses.

'The Guide' oil-powered Safety Bicycle lamp. Dating circa 1890, it possesses its sprung rear bracket, front glass and hood. Reservoir missing, black finish.

A Joseph Lucas Ltd 'Calcia Cadet'. A rare first pattern dated September 1923, in unused condition with its original nickel-plating, burner and reflector, etcetera.

A Powell & Hanmer Ltd 'P&H' acetylene gas lamp dating from between 1904 and 1912, a flared bezel type lamp with its original nickel-plating, carrying bail, sprung mounting bracket, and parabolic reflector. The front double-convex glass has cracked.

A Powell & Hanmer Ltd 'Revenge' acetylene gas lamp. A Joseph Lucas Ltd-manufactured lamp from after the purchase of P &H in 1929. In excellent condition with is original black enamel and nickel-plated finish, original burner and reflector. Dated 1936.

A trade bicycle wicker basket containing a candle lamp and an oil-powered cart-lamp, a 1915 dated Joseph Lucas Ltd 'Silver King', a 'Petroleum' lamp, two Powell & Hanmer Ltd 'Revenge acetylene gas lamps and a rare unnamed torpedo style acetylene gas lamp and a 'Captain' oil lamp dated 1921 with cross-incised side glasses, which Lucas only occasionally fitted to oil lamps between 1918 and 1922. Also: three rear lamps, a 'Kinglet' front lamp and another. A good collection of 13 lamps in a useable basket. (14)

An H. Miller-manufactured 1930s 'GPO' acetylene gas lamp. Finished in post office red, the lamp possesses an embossed heat cowl, side glasses and bracket. In excellent order.

A Powell & Hanmer Ltd 'Revenge' acetylene gas lamp, a Joseph Lucas Ltd-made lamp dating post the acquisition of the company in 1929. In good order with its original colour-printed box lid. Unused but in need of a clean, having been removed from protracted storage. (2)
