Note: Frederick Cayley Robinson was commissioned in 1910 by Middlesex Hospital to undertake a series of paintings for their entrance hall. The resulting 'Acts of Mercy' series of four large-scale paintings were removed from the hospital during a recent refurbishment and put on public display by the Wellcome Trust at its Library.

This painting has been restored and cleaned - according to the restorer, the picture had some paint loss and the inscription to the reverse was very faint. He thought the painting had possibly been rolled up for some time. The paint loss has been restored and the inscription highlighted.
