Lot 82 Description
A 19th century armorial stained glass marriage roundel
The husband's arms Ermine on a Pale Argent three Leopard's faces Or and crest Out of a Coronet Or a Bird displayed Argent holding in its beak a key Argent, the arms representing the wife Ermine on a Fess cotised Sable three Mullets pierced Or and crest On a wreath, a Stag's head proper erased Gules (or Or), attired Or. 48.5 cms wide.
Note: the husband's arms have been associated with families of Chamberlain, while the wife's shield was granted in 1602 to Edward Lyster of London. The shield therefore represents a marriage of a Chamberlain husband to a Lyster bride, possibly Robert Chamberlain, Sheriff and Mayor of Norwich 1854-55, 1856-57, 1871-72 and Emma Rossetta, daughter of Thomas Lyster.
