An extremely rare Britains painted lead horse and jockey In the racing colours of the Duchess of Norfolk, by permission of Walt Disney, Mickey Mouse Limited, circa 1938, original box with label to the top with serial number 1551, enclosing painted horse and jockey. The box 12.5 cms wide.
Note: This very rare model with the Mickey Mouse colours was produced for one year only in 1938 and was not offered for sale but presented as gifts to a number of establishment and senior employee figures at the time. The colours, although classified as unofficial by the British Jockey Club, were carried for the Duchess of Norfolk by a horse called Scampit with jockey E. Smith at a race at Leicester. The Mickey Mouse colours are recorded in Norman Joplyn's "Britains Toy Figures" which includes a section on Britains racing colours and illustrates a similar example.
