Note: Statement from John Twitchett Esq
I do not believe that, in my forty years associated with the Derby China Works, I have had the pleasure of viewing such a resplendent pair of Derby campana shaped vases. The wild profusion of flowers painted by William Pegg, the Quaker are of very fine quality.

Pegg's second period at the Old Derby China manufacture displays bolder and instinctive painting than his first period [1796-1801] and [1813-1820].

It is now quite rare to find a pair of these fine shaped vases [height 12 1/4"] and of course to have panoramic flowers upon a pale blue background, unknown to me.

See: Twitchett, John. Derby Porcelain 1748-1848, An Illustrated Guide. Published 2002 by A.C.C. B/W page 62 shows a similar shaped vase by Pegg in the Bowes Museum. Col. Plate 54 shows another with flowers filled in with a black ground c. 1815 and col. Plates 51-53 show plates by him, [see page 91 for his biography]. £ 1,000 - 1,500
