Condition Report or Notes

The AEC (Associated Equipment Company) was founded in 1912 and the advent of WWI saw AEC coming under direct control of the British Government in order to mass produce Army lorries. During WWII AEC produced their 10 ton 4x4 Mandator Artillery Tractor and a 6x6 version officially called The Marshall but usually referred to as The Mandator.

This wonderful example was the first of a batch of eleven refuellers by the MOD (Navy) in 1966 having covered 22,000 miles from new. This vehicle was designed for airfield use with a maximum speed of 28mph. It was purchased by the current owner in 2002 and restored over a period of six years following which it was registered for road use. The gearbox was changed to six speed therefore increasing the top speed to 40+mph making it more useable on the road. It is thought that this vehicle was possibly based at RNAS Yeovilton, Somerset but this is unconfirmed. This is also the only known restored AEC MkV Refueller on the road and all its pumping equipment is still fitted but not all working. A unique opportunity to purchase a superbly restored, historic commercial that has already participated in the Bournemouth to Bath commercial runs.
