Attributed to Bernard Leach (British, 1887-1979)
A shallow oblong moulded dish in agated clay, with onion seller design, circa 1952, impressed St. Ives seal, 9 3/4" x 13".

This dish was probably made in the light of a planned trip to the US and Japan by Leach, as part of a large group of slipware prepared by David Leach for his father to decorate, to meet expected demand in Japan. None of this group - now mostly held in Japan - bear Bernard Leach monograms/seal.
